Paper Craft

It’s been a while since my last update. I can’t say I’ve been very creative the last few days. I’ve been very busy working. So when I’m not 40,000ft in the air, I’m either running, sleeping, packing, doing laundry, or something other than art. I’m getting a bit anxious about it. I don’t like going that long .. it just seems I have many things on my plate. I’m also getting ready for a wedding in Ireland end of June. So I have to work all my hours prior to that. So not many days off.

Having said that, a few days ago, I was fiddling around with some cool paper and card stock I picked up last week on a layover and here’s what I came up with…

The first item could either be a gift tag OR a luggage ID tag. So I left the inside blank to write a note or important ID information.

The second item, the bird, could also be a gift tag or a decorative item in a baby room. I think it’s rather sweet.

One thing I’ve learned is I am not handy with an exacto/craft knife. Haha!
I suppose with practice I could become more precise and err, less rough around the edges.

I also have this other blank card I designed that I forgot to post… sorry for the crooked photo. I love this card though. The coordinating envelope is black.

Well, that’s it for me for now….

I’m hoping to start taking more photos (at least instagrams!! haha) on my layovers so I can keep you up to date on my week. That would be something nice to do…while I’m out there in the world anyhow! 😉

Thank You..! Part 2

Today I was given a Very Inspiring Blogger Award by Danylife aka Life Is Your Piece of Art.  I’m very flattered and surprised! When I started my blog here at WordPress, I never thought about how i could inspire others. I just thought it’d be a good place to put my creative projects on display and share my life in that way. Now that I’ve been here a while, I can see how it is possible to be inspired by another’s creativity. I get inspired by the blogs I follow and I love to see the various ways that others express themselves here. And when I see other’s do the work, it makes me want to also do the work! For me, life is better with art– not just mine, but yours too! 🙂 So thank you!

Here are the requirements for this award:

1. Display the award logo somewhere on the blog.

2. Link back to the blog of the person who nominated you.

Seven Things About Me:

1.  Speaking of 7! Seven is my lucky number. I was born on the 7th day of the 7th month! At almost 7pm..haha.

2. I love Europe. My favourite European city is Barcelona, however my European ‘home away from home’ is Ireland.

3. My astrological sign is Cancer and my Chinese horoscope is Year of the Horse….which means I’ve got a bit of a dichotomy going on! Maybe you’ve figured that out by now haha.

4. My dream trip is to go to Japan during hanami for the cherry blossoms.

5. I graduated from university exactly 10 years ago this month! Time flies!

6.  Running and yoga are my feel-good workouts. Mandy Ingber says “If you want to change your life, move your legs!” She also says that in order to relax (and relieve anxiety) , you need to exhaust your body.

7. I love Breton stripes! And polka-dots! 😉

I WILL blog my nominations for Very Inspiring Blogger this weekend! But right now I have to go to bed!!!

Thank you, thank you! x

Nightbird.

First off, Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums and caregivers alike. I hope you had a special day with your loved ones.

Well, I’ve finished off a piece… I think. Hard to say. I always find more work to do every time I stand back and look…

This is mainly ink with some coloured pencil…and it’s been through the ol’ Photoshop. I can’t say I’m overly satisfied with this piece…and so that’s probably why it’s gone to Photoshop. Now I enjoy it a bit more.

Also, I’ve noticed I haven’t been taking that great (quality) of pictures lately. Sorry. I’ve been using my iPhone mostly. Not the greatest.

Anyhow! I think it’s funny how a thousand other ideas  you want to try enter into your mind as you’re working, but because you’re so focused on this one thing, you forget half of them. I guess in some ways the work is really a meditation. They say your best ideas come when you’re most relaxed (like laying down or in the shower) so I’m not surprised. The mind is focused in a very unfocused way during the creative process.

Can you imagine if your mind had a recorder that recorded all the other thoughts that pass through your mind as you’re creating? And you could play them back later. I suppose you could always write them down quickly as they come to you, but then you’d never actually get anything done.

In other “news”…  work tomorrow. I’ve been off for a month. Hard to believe. Going off for 5 days…. wondering which art supplies to pack in my little suitcase. HA!

You know, I had been having the hardest time with my WordPress “Reader” to read any of the blogs that I follow here. It was really frustrating. After scouring  the support area of WP, I found a troubleshooting solution that actually worked. Now I can read all your lovely updates. Phew!

Well, here it is..

And Dream Of Sheep…

Lately I’ve been daydreaming of sheep. In particular, I’ve been dreaming of the sheep and the French countryside.

Here are some old photographs of mine at one of my favourite places …ever. Versailles. This is the place that Marie Antoinette used to retreat  to escape palace life.

Can you imagine?

Here is my dreamy interpretation ..

Back At Home..

Back from a nice trip to England and Scotland. I had a lovely time and saw many inspiring things/places and even saw one of my favourite artists in concert — Ryan Adams.

So I’m back in the saddle again, so to speak. During my journey,  I experienced days full of inspiration and some not so much…

I’m back creating. Looking forward to the next step. Experimenting with some crafty things too.

It has taken a few days to get back to feeling normal– sleep, eating etc. I’m also sugar-detoxing. Haha. Seriously–it’s no joke!! So I’ve been feeling blah A LOT. Today is the first day I got outside for a run. YES! It’s that time of year again. It’s nice to be outside for a change. I mean HERE where it’s winter 8 months of the year.

I feel I’ve neglected my WordPress… and by looking at it, I see it needs a bit of an overhaul. Again.

So many things to catch up on as well…

Here are some handmade cards I made last night..
